Free Proxy Checker — Test Any HTTP, HTTPS or SOCKS5 Proxy
Paste a proxy and ProxyGen routes a request through it to reveal the real exit IP, country, city, ISP, ASN, latency, anonymity and protocol. It works with HTTP, HTTPS and SOCKS5 proxies, with or without username and password — free and no signup.
How does the proxy checker work?
You enter a proxy as host:port, user:pass@host:port or with a scheme:// prefix. The checker sends a request through that proxy to a geolocation endpoint, so the result reflects what a target website would actually see — the proxy's exit IP and its location, not your own. Latency is the real round-trip time through the proxy.
What each result means
- Exit IP & country: the address and location a website sees when you use the proxy.
- City & ZIP: finer geolocation of the exit IP.
- ISP & ASN: the network that owns the exit IP — residential ISPs score higher trust than hosting ASNs.
- Latency: round-trip time through the proxy, in milliseconds.
- Mobile / Proxy / Hosting: whether the exit looks like a mobile carrier, a known proxy, or a datacenter — signals anti-bot systems use.
- Protocol: whether the proxy answered over HTTP, HTTPS or SOCKS5.
Proxy anonymity levels explained
Proxies fall into three anonymity levels. Transparent proxies forward your real IP in headers and announce themselves — no privacy. Anonymous proxies hide your IP but still reveal that a proxy is in use. Elite (high-anonymity) proxies hide both, so the request looks like an ordinary direct visit. Residential and mobile proxies are typically elite, which is why they pass strict anti-bot checks that block datacenter IPs.
Proxy checker FAQ
Is the proxy checker free?
Yes — free with no signup. You can test HTTP, HTTPS and SOCKS5 proxies, including ones with username and password authentication.
Which proxy formats are supported?
host:port, user:pass@host:port, ip:port:user:pass, and scheme:// prefixes for http, https and socks5.
Why does my proxy show as a datacenter or hosting IP?
Because its exit IP belongs to a hosting provider's range. Strict sites trust residential and mobile IPs far more than datacenter ones.
What does latency tell me?
It is the real time for a request to travel through the proxy and back. Lower latency means a faster, more responsive proxy for your workload.
Can I test private or local addresses?
No. For security, the checker only tests publicly routable proxy hosts.
